Adventures in Earth & Space Science

h1

I began putting together an Earth & Space Science outline this year, anticipating that would be our focus for the 2009-2010 school year, but Athena has other ideas and we will be diving into Ellen J. McHenry’s The Elements and tackling Chemistry next year instead. I was thrilled to stumble on this curriculum resource and admittedly a tad relieved not to be writing my own Chemistry curriculum. After reading Natalie Angier’s work, The Canon, I’ll probably be shifting to her recommended science cycle over the typical Well Trained Mind one. (If you’re curious what it is and why it is superior to Wise/Bauer’sm get thee to the library or bookstore and find out. Trust me, she’s worth it!) But I’d hate to waste the work I’ve done so far on this, so I’ll be working on fleshing out this outline too, but at a pretty slow pace, so don’t expect too much too soon. I broke out the units the same as my Biology plan and I’ll add the weekly topics and lesson titles later. Here’s the general plan as it stand for the moment. None of these lessons have been “field tested” and probably wont be until 2011-ish.
